CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION
  1. 1.Eligibility

    Players in the following categories are eligible for KOLON THE 65th KOREA OPEN GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.


    1. 1) Any former Champion of the Korea Open in the past 10 years
    2. 2) Any player from the Top 60th place from the KPGA Korean Tour exemption ranking as of 9 May 2023
    3. 3) 2023 KPGA Korean Tour Event Winner
    4. 4) Leading 50 players from 2023 AsianTour Categories
    5. 5) Leading 3 players from Official World Golf Ranking as of 8 June 2023 (capped at 250th position)
    6. 6) Winner of 2022 Korea Senior Open Championship
    7. 7) Winner of 2023 Korea Mid-Amateur Championship
    8. 8) 2023 Korea National Team players
    9. 9) Runner up of 2022 Asia Pacific Amateur Championship
    10. 10) Leading 15 players from the Kolon THE 65th Korea Open Final Qualifying
    11. 11) Tournament Invitations
      • Note 1: Category 6 is only applicable when the entrant concerned is still an amateur on 23 June 2023.
      • Note 2: The starting field will be 144 players. Residual positions will be allocated to players exempt from the Kolon THE 64th Korea Open Final Qualifying ranking.
  2. 2.Schedules

    The championship shall be decided by strokes over four rounds of 18 holes stroke play.
    In the event any round of a tournament shall be rained out or cannot be held for whatever reason, prizes advertised shall be distributed if at least two rounds (36 holes) of the tournament is completed.

    Friday, 23 June 2023 .......................................... Second round, 18 holes

    After the above 36 holes are completed(In the event of failure to complete 36 holes, due to inclement weather conditions, the Cut-Off shall be decided by 18 holes), The 60 lower professional scorers and any tying for the 60th place shall be eligible for 3rd and Final Round. The 3 lower amateur scorers will be eligible for 3rd and Final Round.(Amateur scoring lower than professional Cut-Off shall be eligible for 3rd and Final Round.)

    Sunday, 25 June 2023 ......................................... Final round, 18 holes

    Lowest scorer over the four rounds will be the winner. In the event of tie after four rounds, champion will be decided by a play-off by stroke play over three holes (Hole #16, #17 and #18). The play-off will start as soon as practicable after the last competitors have finished their round. The competitor with the lowest aggregate over the three extra holes will be declared the winner. If the competitors are still tied having played these three holes, a hole by hole play-off will be played immediately over the 18th hole only until a winner emerges. If the play-off involves more than 2 competitors, those other than the winner will be deemed to have tied for 2nd place regardless of their scores in the play-off. Tie for low amateur shall be decided by a card countback. The scorecard countback will be based on the score for the last nine holes, last six holes, last three holes and finally the 18th hole. If there is still a tie, same method will be used to the 3rd or 2nd or 1st round. In the event of more than two amateur players playing the play-off, the result of the play-off takes priority over the scorecard countback.

    • Note: In the event of play being either delayed or declared null and void for the final round, additional play will be at the discretion of the Championship Committee. Additional play will take place on Monday, 26, June 2023.
  3. 3.Entries : Form, Fee, Closing Date
    1. ① Entrants, including exempt players shall apply on KGA entry form.
    2. ② Entry fee(KRW 150,000 for professional / KRW 50,000 for amateur) shall be paid to KGA.
      (15 qualifiers of qualifying round shall be exempt from entry fee.)
      Refund for the entry fee will be made as below;
      (1) Before 2 weeks in advance; full amount of entree fee
      (2) 1 week in advance; KRW 75,000 for professional / KRW 40,000 for amateur
      (3) 3 days in advance; KRW 30,000 for professional / KRW 16,000 for amateur
      (4) 2 days or less; no refund
    3. ③ Entry application must reach KGA from Friday, 2 June 9am to Thursday, 8 June 4pm.
    4. ④ All entries shall be subject to the approval of the organizing committee, which reserves the right to accept or refuse, or having accepted, subsequently reject any entry without giving reason for its decision, which shall be final.
  4. 4.Rules of Golf

    Play will be governed by the Rules of Golf as approved by R&A, local rules by the Tournament Committee.

  5. 5.Groups and Time of Starting

    Groups and time of starting will be laid down by the Tournament Committee.

  6. 6. Official Practice Round

    Privilege for official practice round at Woojeong Hills Country Club is extended to players in the championship on Monday, 19 June(After 3 pm) and Tuesday, 20 June 2023(After 3 pm) and Wednesday, 21 June(All day).
    For practice round on 19 June and 20 June, it will be first come, first served basis.(No cart and club caddie available)
    For practice round on 21 June, all participants should book the tee time through KGA. Players from the AsianTour categories should book through Asian Tour.

  7. 7. Personal Appearance

    Players must be neat in appearance with respect to clothing and personal grooming.

  8. 8. Publicity and Promotion; Broadcasting

    The KGA may arrange for (i) promotion of the Championship, for radio, internet and television broadcasting and other exhibition and publication of the Championship or excerpts thereof in any and all media throughout the world, whether now known or hereafter developed, and (ii) the design, manufacture and sale of merchandise which commemorates or memorializes the Championship, throughout the world. By this application, the player consents to the use by the KGA, or persons authorized by the KGA, of her name, likeness, voice and references to her and photographs and other images of her and her play connected with her appearance in the Championship, or any portion(s) thereof, in connection with such media promotion, broadcasting and other exhibition and publication of the Championship and design, manufacture and sale of commemorative merchandise.

  9. 9. Visa

    All non-Korean players must submit with entry visa of status ‘C-4’ or ‘C-3-1’(work permit) to the tournament office before the first round of championship.

  10. 10. Prizes and Awards
    1. ① The Championship Cup will be awarded to the winner. A Trophy will be awarded to the low amateur. If an amateur becomes the winner, both Championship Cup and Trophy will be awarded.
    2. ② Total championship prize money will be KRW 1,400,000,000. The winner will receive KRW 500,000,000. Besides winning prize money, others will be paid according to prize distribution table which will be announced after the cut-off. For those professionals who have withdrew, retired or has been disqualified after making the cut shall receive the lowest amount on the prize distribution table.
    3. ③ According to Rules of Amateur Status, prize money shall be granted to the top three amateur players.
        1 st place amateur - KRW 1,300,000
        2nd place amateur - KRW 1,000,000
        3rd place amateur - KRW 700,000
    4. ④ For those players (including Amateurs) who have missed the cut after 36 holes shall receive KRW 500,000 from Kolon as competition expenses.

      Note 1: Hole-In-One, Albatross and Eagle prizes and awards will be given to the first player to make it during the championship.

      Note 2: Course Record and Daily Best Score awards will be divided equally among the corresponding amount.

      Note 3: If an amateur wins a special prize or award, it shall be given in accordance to the Rules of Amateur Status.

  11. 11. Waiting Player Onsite

    Player who wants to wait on-site must register at KGA office before first group tees off on the day of 1st round. If more than two players wait on-site, residual positions will be allocated to players exempt from the KPGA Korean Tour exemption ranking.

  12. 12. Conditions and Schedules

    The Committee reserves the right to alter any of conditions and schedules herein.
